July 2010

NEW ADDRESS FROM 3 AUGUST:

FIRST FLOOR, GAP  BRIDGE HOUSE, GAP ROAD, LONDON, SW19 8JA

We have received Planning Permission for our new dojo!!  We are currently working on getting it ready for 3 August which will be the first day it is open.  The last session at Smallwood School will be 29 July.

I will post details of the new club soon including parking, opening hours etc.  At the moment all the classes are the same but as we now have a full time dojo we are not restricted as to the classes we can run.

The dojo needs a few things so I will post a list of items just in case anyone has anything that they dont need at home and would be willing to donate.  Items of the top of my head are chairs, fridge, hoover.  I am also looking to do some fundraising so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

It is a very exciting time!

Kind regards

Sensei Linda

This weekend is the Southern EGKA Grading weekend in Bournemouth so the dojo will be closed.  Details of the training times/costs are here.

Update on the dojo - planning permission application is well underway so we are just waiting to hear from Merton Council.  Fingers crossed!!

March 2010

13 March - There will be no Adults class this Saturday as I will be leaving after the Children's class in order to attend Sensei Ernie's visit to Chalti, Kent.  I have space for 1 or 2 more in my car - let me know if you would like a lift.

28 February saw the Third Friendly Inter Dojo Tournament, held at Sensei Andre and Sensei Daphne's Paddock Hill Dojo. The weather was not very kind ot us, but most of us made it on time!  The day started with the Kata competition and was of an excellent standard - well done to all those who competed.  The Kumite competition followed and again the standard was excellent.

Thank you to everyone who helped organise, bake cakes, score/timekeep and of course to all of the instructors.  I look forward to the next one!!

Sheffield Gasshuku 21-22 March 2009

This event was a great success!!  60 people attended on Saturday and 40 on Sunday (Mothers Day!) and all thoroughly enjoyed the chance to train with Sensei George, Sensei Linda, Sensei Andy and Sensei Simon.  It was also a great opportunity to train and meet with new people and a great sense of camaraderie had developed by Sunday.  We also got to see Sensei Andy's new dojo which is wonderful and a great new home for Hallam Dojo.  The feedback forms that were kindly filled in by most participants confirm that the Gasshuku was a great success and that all are looking forward to Winchester in October 2009. Click here to see article on OTGKA website.
